Edublogs.org is a free blogging service offered specifically for educators. It's powered by Wordpress and so offers lots of functionality missing from Blogger. You might offer it as an alternative for beginning bloggers.

Hi Leigh

Thnks for the post I thought I was totally losing it. I have always had little or no problem with blogger and certainly I still have the old blogger and bloglines. But over the past week I have the same trouble as you have mentioned. I have shown many how to get in and start blogging only to not be able to get in again!
You cannot get the password etc to be sent as it has to be through another account etc.

Disappointing whenpeople finally trust you and then it just doesn't work...shame..
